I have found the folowing:

Janet Douglas was born on 22 April 1794, in Rosneath, Dunbartonshire, Scotland. Her father was James Douglass, born 1760 and her mother, Katherine Walker, born 1755. She married Hugh Mac Dougall on 23 November 1816, in Rosneath. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 8 daughters, including
Mary 1816–1898
Christina 1818–1868
James born 1820
Diego 1821–1893
Catharine born 1822

Janet died about 1840, in Gualeguay, Entre Ríos, Argentina, at the age of 46.

James and Katherine had the following children:
Margaret born 1777
Cristian born 1780
Elisabeth born 1783
John born 1785
Peter born 1788
and Janet.

You sent me a message:

James's father was from Roxburgh: John Douglas married Christian Nicol

That is good Douglas territory, so there are several families to search through.

Translation of message received: I need to confirm the parents of James Douglas, did not think it's hard, because I have the log data and his wife, Katherine Walker was also more, they are my 5th grandparents. And the entry of his baptism SHEET No 31 582 106 664 where parents and Christian McAulay John Walker recorded the b. Katherine Walker in Roseneath, 1755 who married James Douglas A love and thanks, we are in contact

From the registration of baptisms, I note that at Janet's baptism, he father, James Douglas 'was at sea. This would seem to indicate that he might be a fisherman, who were known to move between ports on the Clyde. Might he have been a native of, say Greenock?

Welcome to our community.

This is an interesting puzzle. I have been unable to find any Douglases connected with Roseneath, so it maybe that James Douglass lived elsewhere? Do you know where his sisters got married?

Yours aye,

William

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
