1580 , wow - none of my research goes back that far without getting real iffy . Clarks are a difficult  bunch to sort out . My earliest  Clark [maternal line] appears on Ancient  planters list. A Ancient Planter was a colonist in Virginia who migrated before 1616, remained for at least three years and paid their passage, however my Paternal line are the Clarks I am looking for in your neck of the woods .

I am sure that you are aware of this entry:  https://www.geni.com/people/Jonas-Jerfgren/6000000063429326962

It would appar to be your ancestor.  Lots of useful links.

Sweden recruited many Scots into their armies, and many did well.  I think the recruitment drive coincided with internal problems in Scotland, and going to Sweden (and Finland) was an opportunity to escape.

Welcome to our community!

Have you looked at the Douglas DNA project for family affiliations?

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
