A Ancient Planter was a colonist in Virginia who migrated before 1616, remained for at least three years and paid their passage, however my Paternal line are the Clarks I am looking for in your neck of the woods .

Sweden recruited many Scots into their armies, and many did well. I think the recruitment drive coincided with internal problems in Scotland, and going to Sweden (and Finland) was an opportunity to escape.
The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
