Hi William,

I thought that Wilton was just a small 'one horse town' in the scottish borders, however as far as the name Douglas is concerned, when you search on the Scotlandspeople website (for Wilton parish in the period 1700-1800) there were 74 Douglas baptisms, 56 Douglas marriages and 12 Douglas deaths. So quite a busy little place!

Best regards

The Douglas brothers - George, James and Tom - lived at No.6 Wilton Hill Terrace (when built in 1879 was known as Hill Terrace, being renamed in 1882.); all three were killed during the First World War.

Comment:
I rearched the Commonwealth Graves site for the three men but was unable to locate them

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
