The Douglas Archives

A collection of historical and genalogical records

James David Douglas asked me if I have had my dna determined. Not yet. Is one company better than another. What is the cost. Also, Mr. Douglas would you find the marriage of Edward to Janet and see if witnesses are listed. I am not sure of the spelling of Janet's maiden name. I find it exciting that I can now place trivia comments in places other than in the Blogs. Thank you, William, for correcting the problem.

Hi Henry

My name is Karen Fritz Rowe Fine. I had my dna test through Ancestry.com. I've also had both of my sons, as well as my mother before she passed. My cousin have used Ancestry.com. We have never had any problem.

Happy Hunting

Karen

Thanks Karen for the suggestion. Does mitrochrondal DNA have anything to do with genealogy?I am sure I misspelled that one word. Henry

Hi Henry

I used Family Tree DNA FTDNA for testing. I did both YDNA and autosomal testing. Costs for the various test along with information on each test and the information you may expect to gain from each type of test can be found on their website.

Mr Hunt I will be happy to look into the marriage of Edward and Janet. It may be that we should exchange information and research on Edward Douglass by email where we can exchange larger amounts of information and longer conversations

My email address is davidd1103@gmail.com

Best regards
James David Douglas
Sorry the correct website is www.familytreedna.com

Thanks for the information, Regards, Henry Barraud Hunt, Jr.

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
