Douglas family of Pathhead-Kirkcaldy, 18th and turn of 19th century

I would like to connect with others who are researching Douglas family in Pathhead (aka Dunniker) and Kirkcaldy, 18th - turn of 19th century. 

This branch was involved in weaving; dyer, weavers, flax dressers, etc.

I used vital records from my 3x great grandmothers information:

ISABEL GRAY DOUGLAS; BIRTH 16 JUN 1823 • Dysart, Fifeshire, Scotland

DEATH 16 JAN 1892 • North Leith, Midlothian, Scotland.

Burial at Old Kirkcaldy Kirk; (headstone still exists but broken in half)

Her parents are Charles Douglas and Agnes Balfour. I've found records of their children buried with their grandfather, John Balfour, weaver and feuer in Pathhead. Many of Charles and Agnes children died very young. But three survived to adulthood; Isabel and her brothers Peter and Charles jr.

Agnes Balfour is recorded in a land deed:

Kirkcaldy Deeds (Fife FHS)---BALFOUR, JOHN: weaver, feuar and indweller in Pathhead; Disp  in favour of dau, Agnes Balfour; 5 July & 8 Aug 1800 [B41/7/9]

Burial Information: Buried: 7 Sep 1842 Location: Kirkcaldy Age: 61
Relations: Widow of Charles Douglas

So far Charles has eluded my search for more records! His occupation was Dyer. He passed away before his wife in 1842. His parents were Peter Douglas (Hackler from Kirkcaldy) and Elizabeth "Betty" Bisset of Dysart.

Obviously Agnes had some kind of land or business passed from her father. Would really like to know what she did with the land or business and assume this probably became her husbands by marriage.

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
