The Douglas Archives

A collection of historical and genalogical records

Hello

I’ve just stumbled across this site whilst doing some research into my family tree. Was really surprised after dna test on Ancestry on my dads side it seems like the above is 13 x great grandfather. Not cerium though as his son/nephew on our family tree is a Richard Angus  Douglas born 1523 Tantallon Castle. Looking on resources on google it’s unclear if Richard was his son cousin or nephew also not clear who mother was. If anyone has come across and pay information etc I would be grateful. I’m finding it all really fascinating sounds like a very colourful family!

If you use the search function, top right, you will find others following a similar trail.

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
