"I am a decendent of the Douglas and Boyd families.  I am searching for those that might also be so that we can help one another. Most of mine I have records of are from 1800-1900 and they immigrated through Canada."

This would appear to be the family that you are looking for. http://i-83-67-41-189.freedom2surf.net/fam37685.htm

Is this site for your family tree? Or another researcher?

Maria,

you have told me that you cannot find records on Alexander Douglas and the wife listed as Margaret. It seems it is either Lorraine or Dickson and their marriage would have been before 1845 when John was born (He had other siblings born around 1830's). You know that they were in farming/agriculture and that they are listed as agriculture foreman/ploughman depending on the paperwork.

I will have a look and see what I can find.

William

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
