Thanks for adding me to this site.I am looking forward to learning more about the Douglas’s. I have requested a DNA kit so that I can share my ref number but it’ll be 2 months before the process will be complete. Sarah Douglas daughter of Thomas Douglas a boot and shoe maker living at Pottergate, Alnwick, married in Gateshead, Newcastle Upon Tyne, William Hood…cabinet maker, from Alnwick on Aug 16th 1863. They had a son and called him Thomas Douglas Hood, this was my great grandfather.
My Grandfather John William Hood used the name Douglas as his stage name for his magician business. His tricks were marketed as ‘Hoodwinkles’.

I am looking forward to learning more about the Douglas’s.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
