Profile Information

Which Douglas line are you researching? Dates and places help making connections.
Hard to say exactly who, where or when it was this line arrived in Canada.
My gggf Robert Douglas b. abt 1825 was a grocer/fruit importer in and about the area of Henryville, Quebec. There are clues that indicate his father was also born in Quebec. He may also have been a Robert and possibly had two brothers, William and David. Records indicate the arrival of various Douglas's in Quebec during the 1760's - 1790s. As yet, nothing conclusive connects those individuals to 'my' Robert Douglas. There was a strong naming tradition for eldest sons in this line, alternating between Robert and David.
Who is your earliest known Douglas ancestor?

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
