A collection of historical and genalogical records

Capt William Willett (2Elizabeth Willett, 1 Edward Douglas) was born 1670 in Northampton Co, Virginia and died 1739 in Northampton Co, Virginia. (Will of William Willett, Gent., written 18 Oct 1739, proved 11 Mar 1739, Wills and Inv. XXVI-R, 1773-1740, page 334, Northampton Co, Virginia) "to daughter, Elizabeth Goffigon, my 450 acre plantation where I now live, to grandson, Thomas Willett, the 400 acres whereon Francis Stokely now lives, to granddaughter, Mary Willett, to my three grandsons, William, Hillary, and Douglas Willett, 650 acres. (grandsons are identified as the sons of Hillary Willett.), two granddaughters Mary and Elishe Hunt 150 acres, to daughter Leah Goffigon 125 acres and an additional 200 acre plantation, to my two granddaughters, Isabel Senior and Mary Senior, , daughter-in-law, Frances Gelding, to my three daughters, Elizabeth and Leah Goffigon, and Ann Hunt, Extrs{ my three sons-in-law, Thomas and James Goffigon, and Thomas Hunt.Wit_Hillary Hunt, Benjamin Johnson and Daniel Benthall At Probate "The testator is called William Willett, Gent."

Capt William Willett mar Ann Stringer, daughter of Capt Hillary Stringer and Mary Andrews, in 1694, Orders X#10, 1664-1674. Northampton Co, Virginia. The will of Capt Hillary Stringer, Deeds, Wills, XVII, #13, 1689-1698, page 360, tells us that Ann Stringer, his dau is now married to (William)Willett. His eldest son, John, predeceased his father and is not mentioned in his father's will.  John Stringer left a will in 1698 in Northampton Co and it will be discussed, Also I shall provide proof that Mary, the wife of Capt Hillary Stringer, was the daughter of Lt Col William Andrews and his 2nd wife, Mary Stringer, also, a sister of Col John Stringer.. The father of Capt Hillary Stringer was Col John Stringer, will, 1689 Northampton Co, Virginia. Col John Stringer was a Brother of Stephen Stringer, who mar Susannah Andrews a daughter of Lt Col William Andrews and his first wife, Susannah -----.. I seem to be going astray but it is imperative I provide information that places Mary Stringer as the wife of Capt Hillary Stringer. Every person who descends from Lt Col Edward Douglas has Mary Andrews as an ancestor.

Note- In 1691 a cattlemark was recorded for Anne Stringer, the dau of (Capt Hillary Stringer-1651-1654, f240 in Northampton Co, Virginia. Anne Stringer was, also, mentioned in the will of her grandfather, Col John Stringer.

Would you mind if I use this information to fill out my WikiTree profile for Capt Willett and his descendants ?

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
