The Clan Douglas Society of North America is happy to announce the upcoming 2013 Annual General Meeting to be held September 5th – 8th 2013 at the Longs Peak Scottish Highland Festival in Estes Park, Colorado.
Our AGM host hotel will be the Rocky Mountain Park Inn located within 3 blocks of the Park entrance where the games will be held and the hotel offers a free shuttle service to Clan members who want to attend the games. Please make your reservations and tell them you are with Clan Douglas before August 1st, 2013. You may contact the hotel directly at 800-803-783 or 970-586-2332. You can also view the hotel accommodations and directions atwww.rockymountainparkinn.com
Rocky Mountain Park Inn is offering rooms at $ 119.00 per night on Sept 5th Thursday and Sept. 8th Sunday, room rates on Sept 6th Friday and Sept 7th Saturday are $ 189.00 each night. There are other hotels and resorts in the area and you can always stay at one of these if you wish. Also available are RV Campgrounds such as Estes Park Campground and Estes Park KOA just to name two.
The Annual General Meeting will be held at the Rocky Mountain Park Inn in Estes Park on Saturday evening Sept 7th in one of the banquet rooms where the meeting will take place and dinner will be served. The estimate for the cost of the dinner will be $ 34.00 per person if we have 50 or more people attend or the cost could be higher if less attend. It will be important to know as quickly as possible who is planning on attending so we get a proper head count. Once we have our head count I will require that everyone who is planning on attending will need to send me their payment for the dinner as the hotel requires that everything be turned in by August 1st so the hotel can reserve the room and plan on the dinner
The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
