A collection of historical and genalogical records
Recently I seem to have been receiving a number of :"friend" requests from folks in Chile. Is there any research into Douglas families who left Scotland and settled in Chile?

There's an article about Thomas Douglas and his wife Annie Tennanth , Juan and Jose Drysdale settled in Buenos Aires area .
so in the two images here you can see I have Douglas , Aberdeen
but no Douglas Chile , try it its very usefulHi Gilbert, hopefully you might have an ancestry . com tree? if you do , and as you have DNA tested ; this is the easiest way to see if you do DNA match Douglas es from Chile
1: go to your DNA tab
2: Search
3: type in SURNAME box Douglas
and
4: in Area Box Chile
its a great tool to narrow down your cousins
I now have touched base with several folks in Chile who are Douglases. I have read there was a vast diaspora of folks leaving Scotland .... 10's of thousand.
Hi Gilbert do you also have Stewart lines?
theres seams to be a Silva link to Stewart and Douglas maybe in Chile and Sth Am
The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
