Parents were John Douglas B 1821 Hillington Middlesex and wife Eliza Burrows B 1828 Ealing Acton Middlesex. Parents of John were William Douglas B 1789 an Sarah Dixon Nash B 1787. Parents of William were William Douglas B 1754 Ruislip Middlesex an Mary Shepard B 1755. Parents of William were John James Douglas B 1731 Ruislip Middlesex an Mary Winfield B 1731 Parents of JJ Douglas were Colonel William Douglas or Duglas B 1710 Ruislip Middlesex an Elizabeth Hemmings B 1695. I would like to get my ancestors back to Scotland if possible please any help gratefully received.

Searching the genealogy database for 'Ruislip'  throws up a number of Douglas families.
note the diferent spellings!

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
