I am glad you approve William . A thing to note here is the size of Augusta county as it  was a vast territory with an indefinite western boundary. Most of what is now West Virginia as well as the whole of Kentucky were formed from it, and it also claimed the territory north and west of those areas, theoretically all the way to the Pacific Ocean . The Tract described for Jonathan Douglass however is near present day Harrisonburg Virginia . A few years ago we done an upgrade to the waste water treatment facility there on North River .http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~vaaugust/maps.html

Note in re: Chalkley's Augusta County Records.....

Chalkley's Chroniclescan be a valuable resource if it is used as a first finding aid for citations but not as a correct reproduction or representation of the full rich entries in the county court's original manuscript records.

This is a reference at best , but - not the original source .

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
