A collection of historical and genalogical records
A possible armorial of the Douglas Scotti family who may have lived in or near Ponte Trese, on the Italian/Swiss border.
The family may have moved on into Switzerland.

I have found a map that shows Ponte Tresa and Calano are both in Switzerland near the Italian border. Both are in the canton of Lugano, Ticino, Switzerland. This area is covered by the Diocese of Milan so I will try to contact the churches hopefully for more information. There are many churches in Ponte Tresa, and I don't know which one. These old records may be in either Italian or Latin. I will keep you updated on any progress I have. Richard
This is interesting, I have never come across this one before. What is the source?
This is almost the exact coat of arms Renzo Scotti sent me in 1980 that was over his grandmother's porch except it had a fleur de lie on top only. 2- 6 [pointed stars but colors vary somewhat, but who knows? Richard Scotti
As my time allows, I have many names to try and associate with the Scotti family tree charts from Switzerland & Italy, but I now believe my side is more from Switzerland with a beginning in Italy. I will try to associate these names with the time frame of birth, and death dates in various areas. This will take some time and study to figure out. Information from various cities in both Switzerland and Italy mainly deals with the upper class that most are not associated with. The link between the name and times must be fairly accurate so old family tree charts from years ago may be of great help. The coat of arms of Scotti is more Italian than Swiss. I will also need to find a map showing the exact border of Italy and Switzerland in the time frame of the named cities located. Lots to do..
Hope this helps in some way, shape or form.
The first COA I posted (at bottom) says its from Genoa & attributes to it to Scotti/Scotto. There is another COA I posted a while back also from the Blasonario Subalpino. That COA also attributed to the Scotti/Scotto, but from Cuneo. That COA has the yellow Fleur de Lis present.
The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
