Hello Fellow Douglas ClanI have downloaded my Ancestry DNA can it be used to search The Douglas Archive? Thanks In AdvanceAndrew DouglasContinue
Tracing the Douglas and Douglass families of Yorkshire has been on my to-do list for many years. It never seems quite to come together.
Searching the database for 'York' is problematic as there are so my 'New York's. Douglas+Yorkshire shows some of the names gathered. I have been working to standardise some of the entries, but there will not show up til around the end of the month when I renew the database online.
I have no Silversides. Other spouse's names might lead to something.

Welcome to our group, Andrew.
Are you able to add anything to Thomas, b1610, in York?
William
The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
