- Who is your earliest known Douglas ancestor?
- Robert Douglas born about 1828 Ballynahinch (father recorded as deceased), married Eliza McKee 1849. Father possibly Samuel Douglas per 1834 Tithe Allotment Book and 1849 Margaret Douglas of Magheraknock married; her father was recorded as Samuel Douglas.

It seems the family details in the link you are unable to open are the ancestors of the Douglases who owned the Funeral Parlour of their name in the town. If you search (top right) for Thompson Douglas Ballynahinch it should reach Raewyn's page where you should find it.

- Thank you William, I have traced various family members just from the free records online (1901 and 1911 census, civil records to 1921). The earliest Douglas relative I’ve traced, Robert Douglas, was married in 1849 to Eliza McKee, and I’ve traced quite a number of their children but Robert’s siblings and parents as yet unknown to me (his father is simply listed as deceased on the marriage record). An Adam Douglas and his sister Sarah Douglas may be siblings or cousins, Adam is similar age early 1900s at his death (also Belfast though maybe was still in lower Ballykine 1901)
Like a lot of the family branches everyone moved to Belfast late 19th C. Robert may have been a farm labourer rather than farmer in his own right as listed for some births, he was working as a shipyard labourer in late 60s. Maybe farming work didn’t go so well later in 19th C.
