- I am the son of Duncan Carstairs Leslie Drysdale born in Stellenbosch,SA in 1947.The creation of the Drysdale family involves three brothers—Thomas, William, and James Douglas. In May 1503, these sons of Thomas Douglas of Brushwood Haugh fled Brushwood Haugh in the parish of Dryfesdale (Dumfriesshire) to Dollar in Clackmannanshire after an armed dispute over water rights with a neighbor, John Johnstone of Greenstonhill . While in hiding, they took the name of their native parish, giving rise to the Drysdale lineage
