The Douglas Archives

A collection of historical and genalogical records

In line with other genealogy and family history web sites, I am asking site users to agree to the 'Ancestry Rule'.

You are not authorized to add this page or any images from this page to Ancestry.com (or its subsidiaries) or other fee-paying sites without our express permission and then, if given, only by including our copyright and a URL link to the web site.

It remains my policy that material that is mine - ie not clearly provided by others - should be freely available to users of the Douglas Archives.  But I have found my personal photographs being used to promote paid membership of other sites, and this is not acceptable. They were actually sent to me as an incentive to join the site!

I am sure that you understand.

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
