A collection of historical and genalogical records

Can anyone help with this enquiry?

I was wonder if you could help me in relation to the McGuffock McGuffey Sept what research you have in relation to this family being associated with the douglas clan etc. My family name was McGuffog but I have found the name spelt numerous ways. I have also found reference that they belonged to the McPhee Clan there seems to be numerous theorys around this.
I have found two family crests belonging to the McGuffog's One I believe was to Hugh McGuffock of Rusco the other to John McGuffie of Cubics If you are unable to tell me how they are included in the Douglas clan maybe you can direct me to where I can find this info out.

I suspect that the McGuffog family were secretaries to the Douglas family in the 15th century, and pledged their allegiance around that time in return for protection. Some say they originate in Stewarton, near Campbeltown, in Argyllshire, but I think could have been Stewarton, Ayrshire, which is not far from their stronghold in south west Scotland. Does anyone know more?

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
