John Anthony “Jack” Douglas (1945–2026)

The death has been announced of John Anthony “Jack” Douglas, Bronx‑born producer whose instinctive, live‑room style shaped the sound of Aerosmith, Cheap Trick, and John Lennon’s final sessions.

A Record Plant alumnus and one of the defining American studio figures of the 1970s, he was survived by his wife, four children, and five grandchildren.

In prerparing his biography for the Douglas Archives, I was unable to find anything about his family history.

I think that he was born in the Bronx, New York, on 6 November 1945 and raised in a music‑filled household, he credited his early exposure to his parents’ record collection for shaping the ear that later defined his career, though their names are not recorded in public sources.

Can anyone help?

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
