This is a continuation of my previous blog where I introduce James Goffigon and his wife, Leah Willett.

Children of James and Leah represent the 5th generation from Lt Col Edward Douglas.

1) Susannah Goffigon, born 1742

2) Elizabeth Goffigon, born 21 Apr 1748, died 1810

3)Sarah Goffigon, born 1752, mar John Nelson, 17 Oct 1772, born 1747

4) Anne Goffigon, born 1738, died 1778.

5) Rose Goffigon, born 1784,

6) Nathaniel Goffigon born 10 Jan 1747, died 31 Jan 1808.

7) Southey Goffigon, born 1746, died 1778

All of the above were born, mar and died in Northampton Co.

I shall follow the trail of Rose Goffigon that ends with the current generation.

Rose Goffigon mar 1) Obediah Hunt in 1763. who was son of Thomas Hunt and Ann Willett (dau of Capt William Willett and Ann Stringer. Thomas Hunt was born 1640 and died 1771. Rose Goffigon mar 2nd Benjamin Johnson 30 July 1773 That December Benjamin Johnson died. There were no children by Benjamin. Rose Goffigon mar 3) Peter Warren, 3 Nov 1774 Children by Peter Warren were Nancy who mar Thomas Biggs and Nathaniel Warren.

Children of Rose Goffigon and Obediah Hunt represent the 6th generation and shall be presented in the next blog.

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
