Andrew Douglas has just posed an excellent article on the sacrifice of one Australian family in World War 1.

George and Mary Douglas lived in Sydney, and they had four boys; Gordon, Allan, George and Angus and possibly three daughters; Georgina, Elsie and Gladys.

Archibald and Helen Douglas of Queenstown, Tasmania, had four sons. They all went to war. Lieutenant A. Douglas being the first of the Queenstown boys to return wounded. He rejoined his regiment on active service in France. Charles Keith Douglas died of wounds in 1918. Private Harry Douglas who served at the front a considerable time, returned home permanently disabled and subsequently died in 1921. Rev William Keith. Douglas ministered to the needs of the men as chaplain at the Front.
