Looking for Decendants of WILLIAM DOUGLASS b-1720, Charles County, Maryland, U.S.A. Married to a "Rachael".

I am trying to find who William Douglass parents were, or "Rachaels" maiden name. I am desperately trying to research past this brick wall! I am trying numerous angles and many geneology sites. If you know of anything of my 5-G-Grandfather, or anyone else who may know, PLEASE contact me here and I can give you an email address. Also I can give you more information on my Douglas family tree. We are of Black Douglas.

If I read your own page correctly, you are looking for William Douglass, b1720 in Charles Co. MD.USA,D-1786, Franklin Co.PA.,USA? Forgive me, but I have no idea where MD is! I can guess the other initials, but I do not know that one.

Also from your own page, I think he married Rachael, and had children Children: Robert, Samuel, William, Martha, Joseph (your 4-G), Rachael and Mary. Do you have any dates for these people?

Again, from your page, I think this Joseph married Rebecah Robb b-1/28/1795 KY,USA d-2/17/1887,KY and his son, Robert (your 3-G) married Sarah Robb-b-1805, KY d-c.1863, Logansport,IND. You want to know if the two Robbs are related.

PS Oh! I have just re-read your title, and I now know MD is Maryland! My point is, really, that for those of us outside the US of A, abbreviations of states and counties do not come readily to us. It is good if we can have them in full.

Sometimes I forget I'm emailing outside of the U.S! Yes, MD is Maryland, and PA. is Pennsylvania. I'll try to remember not to abbreviate the States!

Married: 1st wife: Name Unknown on c.1800. d-before 1820 2nd wife: Rebecah Robb on 9/5/1821
Rebecah was b-1/28/1795, Kentucky, U.S.A. d-2/17/1887, Kentucky, U.S.A.

1st wife- 5 children:
RACHAEL b-1801 Married 3x's I have that info as well
ROBERT T. (my3 G-Grandfather) b-1803 in Pennsylvania, U.S.A. d-9/18/1850 Married: Sarah Robb
on 7/26/1827
Sarah was b- 1805 in Kentucky, U.S.A. 9 children (I have that info)
NANCY b-1805 Married: Brian Edington on 8/31/1830
ISSAC Y. b-1/04/1808 in Ohio,U.S.A. d-2/15/1890 Married: Elizabeth McComb on 8/13/1834
LUCINDA b-1812 Adams County, Ohio, USA Married: Thomas Long on 12/10/1829

2nd Wife, Rebecah Robb- 2 children:
ELIZABETH b-8/22/1822 in Ohio, USA d-3/6/1883 in Kentucky, USA

OK - according to Ancestry.com -- William Douglass father was Thomas DOUGLAS --Birth 1692 in Picawaxon, Charles, Maryland, United States -- Death 11 Feb 1756 in Picawaxon, Charles, Maryland, United States.  His wife appears to be Elizabeth Gardner (Gardiner?) --Birth 1696 in Charles, Maryland, United States-Death 29 Aug 1758 in Charles, Maryland, United States.   and it goes way back from there if these links are correct.

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
