A collection of historical and genalogical records
I read back through your messages and see it is great-grandparents (same as me). When I look at some of the genealogy links for Dugald, in particular his mother, there are 2 sons named Dugald 1852 and Dugald Roy 1854 - I wonder which is correct. One would presume if you had a second child with the same name, the first one must be deceased. However, in other family trees, it shows my great-grandfathers birth date as 1952. Have you any clarity on this?
Thanks Allan, I am pretty new at this family tree stuff. Fortunately for me - the maternal side of my grandmothers family has been well researched but I don't have a lot on her Dad - Dugald - what has come up that you think it may not be the same person. Is Dugald and Catherine your great grandparents or grandparents?
Have you made any progress with Dugald?
Welcome Allan
Welcome to our group, Allan.
We have a small but active number of members researching their Drysdale roots : http://douglashistory.ning.com/group/drysdale-a-douglas-sept
I am sure you will find them helpful.
Yours aye,
William
The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
