Hello William,
It is not clear to me who Mary Babcock married. Also who is 'A'lexander William H of Omaha, Neb? Was he a Douglas?
There is an interesting point that is mentioned: that 'A'lexander William H was "1871 manager of agencies Whitney 8 Holmes Organ Co. Quincy, IL" If 'A'lexander William H was a Douglas, or might have hired someone named Douglas to work on organs along the Mississippi, this might help lead us to the father of a man named Richard Bellamy who has a perfect match on 67 markers with one of the descendants of William Douglas, b. 1610. Bellamy was born out of wedlock and raised by a Bellamy family in Illinois. Somehow we know that Richard Bellamy's biological father built/repaired pipe organs.
The line of descent for Mary Babcock have goes like this (according to my data base):William Douglas, b. 1610
William Douglas, b. 1645
William Douglas, b. 1672
Thomas Douglas, b. 1712
Elizabeth Douglas, b. 1745, married Isaiah Babcock and had daughter Mary Babcock. If I count correctly, Mary was the great, great, great grand daughter of William Douglas, b. 1610 (and not of the male line, if this is important).
Best regards,
Ed Douglass

The 1910 census lists the same Connecticut born William H. Alexander living in the 4th ward , Salt lake county , Utah .
As with Omaha Nebraska ,there was a mormon presence , Omaha is In Douglas county
noticing Fort Douglas Military Reservation is in 4th ward of S L County as well .
William H. Alexander is listed as a music salesman he appears to be a grandson of Mary Babcock
Thank you, Russ
You are most welcome William
Since I live in North Stonington CT, reading this is a little history of my area as Lisbon CT is about 10 miles away, Voluntown CT Maybe 4 miles and Norwich CT about 6 miles.
The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
