State sponsored vandalism at Douglas Support?

Almost 600 people have already signed a petition to stop the destruction of Douglas Support grounds.

Sandra Dolan said "No-one knew that this was going to happen until it happened. They must have started on Monday afternoon because nothing was happening on Monday morning but when I drove past it again on Monday evening, half the old trees on one side of what must have been the pathway leading to the Douglas Support House had been felled. This morning there is nothing left at all. All the old trees are gone and I'm pretty sure that one of the pillars has been removed.

"Douglas Support house stood there and there are graves of Douglas ancestors. I have spoken to Historic Scotland and the foundations of the house and the trees
surrounding the house have legal protection."

Origionally Rosehall House, it was later renamed Douglas Support and has since been demolished. However, there are remains of the terraced gardens and the Douglas mausoleum which appear threatened.

Terrible!

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
