The Douglas Archives

A collection of historical and genalogical records

I am trying to establish a Scottish Irish link for the parents of the above Robert.  His parents were Robert Douglas and Elizabeth Henderson and they relocated to Ireland around 1665.  Robert the younger was a Lieutenant in William 3rd's army at the Battle of the Boyne.

The Douglas family lived at Grace Hall, Magheralin, Co. Down. Ireland

Who is the lucky person living in Grace Hall now Susan - is it you?

Loved the pics of the heiffer award!

Thank you so much Maggie!  I've wondered for years what Grace hall looked like.  It's beautiful!

The Deputy Keeper's Reports-Co Donegal References, held at PRONI, list two Grace Hall's.  The one in Co Down and another in Co Antrim with General notes from the Dowglass Family,  dated 1662-1880.

Your information has helped me tremendously!  Thank you again!!

I tried to use the link "genealogy database" and it came back "not found"

I guess you are looking for the Douglas Archives genealogy database?

The interactive version is currently inoperable while I try to resolve issues with my ISP - or am successful in finding a suitable alternative.

Meanwhile, it can be viewed in a less manageable form

UPDATE: Now back to normal here:  http://www.douglashistory.co.uk/famgen/index.php

Do we have a copy of CM Douglass will ? I still cant sign in to the gen part .

I have just added a page for Douglas of Devrock  http://www.douglashistory.co.uk/history/families/douglas_of-devrock...

Still tryng to prove that link to Robert

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
