I, for one, will be missing the closure of the forums, to which i have contributed over several years, both posing questions and providing responses.
I guess they were not providing a…

I have received this email, and thought that it might be useful to share my response - in the hope that other researchers may be able to add to it.
I am having difficulty knowing where to go to find my ancestor Samuel Douglass. I have traced him to the 1730 immigration from Scotland with his father and son. I can not find where/who in Scotland he descended from.
Can you direct me to where I go on this site to find…

Ronnie Brown, of the Corries, seen here with the late Duke of Hamilton, will be at Lennoxlove for the Douglas Clan Gathering to talk about his painting on 2nd July.
Towards the end of the afternoon, we will be entertained by the Haddington Pipe Band.
It should be a memorable afternoon.

Thelma Singh and I are first cousins. Recently posted documents on have confirmed without a doubt that Kenneth, father of Thelma, was the son of Charles Douglas, my grandfather. I am so thrilled.
If anyone has information on Henry Douglas, estimated date of birth 1820, St. Johns, Jamaica, please contact me. Word has it that he was from Scotland.

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
